Serhii Hontarovskyi’s Solo Exhibition: “The dream running on waves”

On February 28, 2026, Odesa will host the opening of “The Dream Running Along the Waves,” a solo painting exhibition by Serhii Hontarovskyi, held under the patronage and with the support of the Triada Audit Company. This is a landmark event, marking the world’s first exhibition to feature paintings in the style of Vitrailism — a new direction in oil painting founded by the Ukrainian artist. The exhibition will run throughout March and April (until April 17 inclusive).

The title of the exhibition deeply reflects its core concept: through textured canvases, the artist conveys more than just the beauty of nature; he captures a reflection of the inner state of the Ukrainian people. For the author, a native of Odesa, the sea represents the city’s “genetic code” and a source of energy that helps one endure and rediscover oneself even in the most challenging times. In these difficult days, art becomes a unifying force, bringing Ukrainians together around the nation’s traditional values. This extraordinary event is a must-visit.

The exhibition is on display at the Odesa Museum of Regional History from February 28 to April 17, 2026.

About the Technique

Vitrailism is a unique oil painting technique developed by Serhii Hontarovskyi. It synthesizes the sculptural volume of impasto on canvas with the optical depth of a stained-glass window. Each artwork is created in three distinct stages:

1. The textured oil base on canvas;

2. The graphic sgraffito structure (“energy threads”);

3. The final multi-colored glazing, which makes the canvas glow from within.
